Yarra Trams has become Australia’s first Public Transport operator accredited as a Disability Confident Recruiter.
The accreditation acknowledges that Yarra Trams’ systems, processes, and policies are inclusive and accessible, and designed to attract, hire, and retain people with disability
“We’re incredibly proud to have been awarded Disability Confident Recruiter status, showing our genuine commitment to hire and retain people with disabilities and accessibility requirements at Yarra Trams,” said Kate Hewitt, Head of Accessibility, Yarra Trams.
“It’s so important that our workforce is as diverse as the community we serve – our certification goes a long way to encourage people who may not have considered a career in public transport to apply.”
Australian Disability Network’s extensive accreditation process reviews every step in the recruitment cycle, from making sure that job descriptions are non-discriminatory, to ensuring workplace adjustment processes support people with disability, to modifications to the Yarra Trams website to improve accessibility.
“We encourage any members considering getting accredited to get in touch with the Australian Disability Network team – you won’t look back!”
