Bunnings is expanding its Assisted Living Range to include a comprehensive collection of products designed to support customers in creating safer, comfortable, and adaptable homes.
In a market that’s often fragmented, the expanded range aims to fill the gap by providing a one-stop shop for all assisted living needs. From home improvement products to daily living aids, the range offers practical solutions to improve everyday living, catering to customers with disabilities, carers, and anyone seeking more accessible home improvements.
Importantly, the range is focused on style as well as functionality, recognising that all customers want choice when it comes to their homes.
Key features of the expanded range:
- Modern Design: The products are designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind to deliver style without compromising on safety and accessibility in the home.
- Enhanced Functionality: From accessible door handles and easy grip gardening tools to adjustable furniture and smart home, the products are designed to simplify daily tasks.
- Comprehensive Selection: With over 2,500 products in the range, there is a wide variety of options to suit different needs and preferences, all in one place. This includes an exclusive range with Caroma, a trusted name in bathroom and kitchen fixtures.
- Bunnings Director of Merchandise, Cam Rist, said the new range would create a one-stop shopping experience for customers who are looking for affordable prices on upgrades around their homes.
“We understand that living with a disability can present unique challenges and our expanded Assisted Living range seeks to offer solutions to our customers who are looking to make their homes a space that’s tailored to them,” he said.
“The range expansion was a priority for our team as many people in our community live with a disability. As part of the expansion, we also received feedback from some team members on products that they thought would be great additions to the range.”
“Customers shopping with us can find items in the relevant category aisles such as bathroom and kitchen or can find one of our helpful team members for assistance on the products they’re after.”
Beyond the product range: inclusive shopping experiences
The range expansion builds on other steps Bunnings has taken to make its stores more accessible and inclusive for all customers, including:
- Maps designed for customers with sensory restrictions to navigate stores more comfortably.
- Availability of wheelchairs and trolleys in all stores across Australia and New Zealand.
- Team members trained in Auslan and NZSL to assist customers who use sign language.
- Proforma invoicing, making it easier for customers to help secure funding for their next purchase and identify products and prices that will be part of the transaction.
“Our approach has always been lowest prices, widest range and best experience for all our customers, so in expanding our Assisted Living range we wanted to ensure we are creating a shopping experience that reflects the diversity of our community,” Cam said.
“We listened to feedback from our customers and are proud to be offering products and shopping experiences that help our customers live more independently while expressing their individuality and personal style.”
“We hope the expansion highlights how businesses can adapt to meet community needs and foster more inclusive environments while addressing gaps in the market.”
